7 Attributes of False Teachers

• Reject or add to parts of the Bible. "All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17) The Bible warns in both Proverbs 30:5-6(Do not add to His words lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar) and Revelations 22:18-19 that His scripture is not to be added to or taken from, for it is breathed out by God in divine revelation. So if one proclaimed to know God and boasts a revelation for additions or subtractions from the bible, he lies.      
• Don't stay within the Church "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us." (I John 2:19) If someone is a true Christian, they will stay within the body of Christ, His church. If someone leaves the church and tries to take others with them, they don't truly know the Christ. Which leads to:
• Cause division or faction within the church "But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the master who brought them,  bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed." (2 Peter 2:1-2) Teachers from God shouldn't cause division and quarrelling within the church. They convict, encourage, and build up the church. Division is even called a 'work of the flesh' in Galatians 5:19-20.
• Use their influence to seduce others "For speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error. They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved." (2 Peter 2:18-19) They may preach a religion where you can still hold on to your fleshly desires, or simply hide their own sensual actions behind the face of their religion.
• Don't have love for others "Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love." (1 John 4:18) If there is an absence of authentic love (I Corinthians 13) in their life, they do not know God."Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness." (1 John 2:9)
• Boast spiritual insight or direct revelation from God that contradict scripture. Basically they make stuff up that sounds good to them. They attempt to sound wise and spiritual, but in actuality say things with no substance, they "Speak loud boasts of folly." Because they don't know God or understand His ways, they do not "accept the things of the Spirit of God for they are folly to them, and they are not able to understand them because the they (the things of God) are spiritually discerned."
• Deny the sovereign Lordship of Jesus Christ. "Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus in the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also." (1 John 2:22-23) This includes such things as denying the virgin birth, the deity, the bodily resurrection, and His second coming. If they deny Jesus, they deny God.
